Fire Safety education props

Fun Day in the City of Charlton, MA

Open house event with fire safety educational props

Danielle Robertson, from the Charlton Fire Department, MA, explains how the Hazard House and Hazard Kitchen fire safety education props have become staples of their bi-annual Open House event.

“Every two years, we invite families at an Open House Event at the fire station. We prepare all kinds of activities for kids like fire hose games, aerial scope bucket rides and animation.  By our mascots, Smokey and Sparky.”

“The Hazard House and Hazard Kitchen fire safety awareness simulators are always very popular.  They get a lot of attention from all groups. Including teens and homeowners. Most attendees will remember their experience from the previous year and go “Yeah! The Hazard House is back!” There are so many safety messages built in this equipment that you could bring up a new thematic to different audiences every time. Attention means retention!”

The Charlton Fire Department provides educational programs to all groups within the community.  Including targeted programs for school children like Fire Safety Week and Operation Safe Prom, along with presentations at The Charlton Senior Center and other senior homes.
